General awareness.

Precipitation in my CoCoRAHs rain gauge was 0.06 inch in January 2025 and 0.01 in February so far. Record low precipitation (0.04 inch) for January 2025 was recorded at Omaha Valley NWS approximately 5 miles west of here. Normal January 2025 precipitation is 0.85 inch. Burn ban has been in effect for about 3 weeks.

Plants and wildlife.
Yard and garden are dry. Vegetation (trees, shrubs, grass) are stressed. Soil is very dry and powdery. Water level in Standing Bear Lake (approximately 0.2 mile to the east of here) is approximately 3 feet below normal level. Approximately 15 species of birds (about 100 birds total)are using my bird bath that I fill once or twice each day.
